Fear is the great intruder.
It sneaks in the back door, a cat burglar looking to prey on all the prized possessions we have stored up as leaders. It snatches our confidence, smuggles away our passion and smashes our dreams.
Recently I came across this incredible quote on risk. The quote is attributed to Anonymous (one of my favorite writers) and the layout is mine.
To live is to risk dying.
To hope is to risk despair.
To try is to risk failure.
But risks must be taken because the greatest hazard in life,
is to risk nothing.
The person who risks nothing,
has nothing and is nothing.
They may avoid suffering and sorrow,
They cannot learn, feel, change, grow, love, live.
Chained by their certitudes,
they are as a slave,
they have forfeited their freedom.
Only a person who risks is free.
